From: a generic office space.

To: a storytelling Thinglink space.

Thinglink is a service about telling visual stories. The design of the Thinglink workspace tells stories through physical objects. Each item of furniture was chosen based on the story behind it. For example, some of the furniture was found by the Thinglink employees adding a personal touch to their work environment. All the furniture are either old or design objects that keep their value over time. The work tables are a selection of old Aalto tables by Artek in different sizes to allow for a variety of work settings (individual, team, or group sessions). The space itself was designed to feel as comfortable as possible with velvet and leather used as base materials encouraging people to sit, hangout or even take a quick nap.

From: a retail space needing a refresh in line with the brand.

To: a space speaking the same language as the products and the Nanso brand.

The starting point of the design was to accentuate and respect Nanso’s identity, femininity, and responsibility for materials within the retail space. We wanted the space to feel light, bright and fresh but not cold or too simplistic. We also wanted to bring a touch of feminitity in a warm and accessible way for customers. The end goal was to use materials in a responsible way and to use existing furniture whenever possible.

From: a circular empty room

To: a fairy tale setting for special encounters

We were commissioned by Thinglink, to create a special space for meetings, gatherings and drinking tea. Our inspiration was a finnish fairy tale by Topelius where two girls get lost in the woods and a good spirit sends them a bed to sleep in and tea and sandwiches to eat. We used thread and cotton ribbon to define the space and to give a feeling of being in the woods with rays of light coming through the trees.

From: a grey patent agency.

To: a deliciously grey patent agency

For the design of this office we were inspired by traditional tailored suits and their fabrics. We used different tones of grey on the surfaces and upholstery fabrics to create a space which plays with the idea of dull but turns it into an asset. The lighting was inspired by the cartoon image of the typical inventor with a light bulb over his head.
